SAF NSF AVOIDS JAIL BECAUSE HE IS AN OFFICER AND HAS "POTENTIAL FOR SUCCESS IN LIFE"

SAF NSF LTA Mee Liek Fook who repeatedly molested a woman at Serangoon MRT station in January 2019 was on Friday (11 October 2019) sentenced to probation. The judge rejected calls from the prosecution for 20-year-old Mee Liek Fook to be handed a jail term.

Justifying her decision, District Judge Pundes Kanilan reportedly on multiple occasions described Liek Fook’s three instances of touching his victim — twice on her thighs and once at her private parts – as “minor intrusions”. CNT said she also cited a probation report that deemed Fook suitable for 21 months of probation because his military performance and rank in the SAF showed he had the “potential to excel in life”.

The incident occurred less than a year ago on Jan 4 (Fri) when Fook was on a North-East Line train heading towards Punggol station at about 6:30pm after his bookout.

According to court documents, Fook noticed a woman with “very long legs” wearing a pair of shorts and decided to sit next to her. At this point, the SAF officer “felt the urge” to invade and acquire the woman's assets. He then used his left hand to touch the outside of her right thigh. The woman then retreated away from him and cross her legs. Undeterred, Fook made a tactical advance on the woman’s right thigh again. The woman then moved to another seat before alighting at Serangoon station.

However, Fook also alighted and followed her, his pursuit motivated by yet another urge to touch the woman. The court heard that as Fook stood behind the woman on an escalator, he then used his finger to poke her buttocks. The woman turned around and shouted at Fook as he walked away quickly. She told a station officer she had been molested and pointed out Fook, before making a police report two hours later. Fook was arrested three days later in Hougang.

When asked to comment about what he felt about his sentence Fook replied, "Honestly I feel the sentence is too harsh. How dare this woman challenge the might and power of me, a SAF officer. You know arh I went to OCS for 9 months leh. Has she contributed to the nation like I have done?!?! How dare she!"

Fook was also questioned on why he had suddenly decided to carry out this deed. His response was that he had been confined for 2 weeks due to a recent outfield operation, and his routine masturbation cycle was disturbed, causing him to be particularly aroused on that day. According to CNT, Fook's commanding officer, COL Gong Tao Hai when asked to comment about this debacle said "We will not be demoting the rank of LTA Fook. He has been a good leader and soldier and this fact does not change even if he chooses to touch some women. All he needs to do is to go siamdiu and he can touch siambus as much as he likes so long as he hangs enough flowers for them."

According to COL Gong, since he did an indecent act in public in uniform, he will be punished with 150 hours of extra duties so that he reflect and understand the severity of his actions that have disgraced the SAF. LTA Fook will also have to go through a series of lessons to teach him how to seize a woman's assets in the right way (by using his mighty >$1400 of monthly SAF allowance and flexing his rank on women.)

Activities such as drinking, touching women (siambu) and their fancy genitals, and hanging flowers for siambu are some of the ways that will be able to ensure SAF officers relieve their stress to increase the efficiency of the SAF.

COL Gong also indicated that for the next unit cohesion session, it will be organised at Neverland exclusively for officers to ensure they get their fair share of touching women to keep their hormones at bay and prevent such a scandal from happening again. The budget for the unit cohesion is expected to be between the range of $300,000 to $700,000.

When asked to comment about the high budgeting cost of the unit cohesion, chief of SAF, Lieutenant General Melvyn Ong replied "I believe that this an excellent way to thank our soldiers for their contribution to the defence of our Singapore, our home. It is a brilliant investment to increase the morale of our officers, to upkeep the standards that every SAF officer defends."
